Print & digital magazine specifications summary

* All files must be supplied as composite CMYK, high-resolution PDF (version 1.3)
* Color: composite CMYK and grayscale only
* Files must not include any form of color management or ICC color profiles
* Image resolution: 300dpi minimum for color or greyscale images; 1000dpi minimum for monochrome bitmap (lineart) images
* The file must not contain any transparent elements or Multiple Master fonts
* Any lines should have a minimum line weight of 0.25pt
* All fonts to be embedded, and subset
* The Total Area Coverage of CMYK inks should not exceed 300%
* Overprint and knockout is the responsibility of the originator. If your requirements are outside of typical printer default settings (100% black set to overprint and 100% white set to knockout) you must inform us
* The file content remains the responsibility of the originator

Hard copy proofs
* For color-sensitive ads, please supply customer approved color contract proofs (100% of final size). We cannot accept responsibility for color reproduction if a color proof is not supplied.

File delivery
* All files must be clearly named with journal, issue date, client.
e.g. DDT/Sept2/Elsevier
* PDF files can be e-mailed to our production department: adcopy@elsevier.com
* Files can also be supplied via our FTP site:
ftp://stsales@ftp.elsevier.com

* When using the FTP site, please upload your files in a folder titled with the client name. Once the file has been uploaded please send an e-mail to your production contact to let them know the file is ready for retrieval.
* If supplying files on disk, please use industry standard CD-ROM, and label it with the journal title and issue.

Note: We cannot accept responsibility for print quality if digital specifications are not followed. If PDF files and copy instructions have not been received by a given deadline, existing or alternative material will be repeated.
