High Content Analysis & Phenotypic Screening

26 January 2015 - 27 January 2015

The Twelfth Annual High-Content Analysis 2015 meeting will focus on the next steps of technology development, including new assays and probes, more advanced image analysis and data management, high-content screening of 3D models and ultra high-resolution imaging. This year, we will also co-locate CHI’s Inaugural Phenotypic Screening meeting, offering two tracks to choose from, expanded exhibit hall and an offering of user group meetings and dinner courses. The Phenotypic Screening meeting will address the advantages of phenotypic screening vs. target-based screening, and focus on assay development, selection of physiologically-relevant models and subsequent target identification, as well as case studies of phenotypic screens from leading pharma.

Biotherapeutics - Innovative Future Medicine

08 October 2015

In the last decades, biotherapeutics have become a valuable and integral part of modern medicine to treat severe diseases such as cancer, diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis. The first use of biotechnological methods was for the production of insulin. Since then many biotherapeutic medicines have been developed for the treatment of severe diseases such as cancer and many autoimmune diseases and multiple rare diseases. Biotherapeutics are especially attractive due to their highly targeted and specific nature and their relatively low safety risk. This one day meeting will focus on the recent progress made in the fast moving field of biotherapeutics. Experts from academia and industry will highlight the latest development in this exciting area of research.

APS Stimulating antimicrobial innovation

22 October 2015

Background to the Meeting: The pipeline of new antimicrobial agents is critically stagnant with most major pharma players having limited activity in the antibiotics arena over the past three decades. This meeting aims to capture the cutting edge of the antimicrobial innovation in the UK, to understand the barriers to antibiotic discovery, examine innovation ‘hotspots’ in the UK and highlight developments in the current funding landscape for antibiotics discovery and innovation. The purpose and aims of the APSGB Microbiology and Anti-Infectives Focus Group is to provide a forum for the discussion of all aspects of microbiology and anti-infectives research and development in the pharmaceutical industry and academia, to underpin the importance of microbiology to the pharmaceutical sciences and innovation, and to provide continuing education, resources and a voice for pharmaceutical scientists in the challenging area of antimicrobials development.
