IET/SynbiCITE Engineering Biology Conference

13 December 2016 - 15 December 2016

We are organising a major conference on the engineering of biology (synthetic biology) at the IET in Central London from 13th-15th December this year. As you may be aware, synthetic biology is one of the Government's "Eight Great Technologies" which have been identified as key drivers of the British Economy. In the case of synthetic biology/engineering biology it is considered to be an area with major potential to drive the bioeconomy, which in the UK is estimated to be £150bn and expected to grow rapidly. The core of the conference will address key aspects of synthetic biology from both a research and industrial translation standpoint, but the conference will also consider the role of many other fields (academic and industrial). Hence, this will be a very influential meeting with many representatives from wider industry attending. The programme includes major international speakers in the field, for example, Professor Jay Keasling from Berkeley, and Professor Chris Voigt from MIT are both giving keynote addresses. This email is to encourage you, your colleagues, your postdocs and students to submit abstracts to the meeting (though, of course, you can simply register to attend).
