Abiraterone offers men whose prostate cancer has come back after chemotherapy crucial extra months of life. Before this decision, they would have been told it is too expensive for the NHS, and only been given access through the Cancer Drugs Fund. But now they will be given the drug routinely on the NHS and without any delay.

The Myelin Repair Foundation (MRF) today announced the newest member of its research consortium, Dr. Jonah Chan, Associate Professor of Neurology from University of California, San Francisco. As a sponsored researcher, Dr Chan joins 40 MRF principal investigators and researchers in the consortium focused on advancing myelin repair science for multiple sclerosis (MS).

ELRIG (European Laboratory Robotics Interest Group) on 30th April announced the programme for its 6th Annual Drug Discovery Conference, in collaboration with SLAS (Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening). The conference is to be held at Manchester Central Convention Complex on 5th – 6th September 2012. Registration for the event is free and over 1,000 delegates are expected to attend.
